every company reports its losses as a percentage of its assets since the government does not own every thing like Communist countries why include other organizations assets as the government is treated like any other organization
or if it is related to taxes when governments has large debts and want to raise taxes , companies and individuals will outsource jobs or work in shadow markets like drugs or human trafficking to avoid taxes

What do you think of the situation in Madison, WI? Should Governor Walker care about cutting his budget?

Those 14 Wisconsin state senators will have to return from Illinois eventually and when they do the collective bargaining bill will pass in that states house. I believe those public sector teachers that have called off work for the past 3 days should be summarily fired. Their in a precedence for this. In 1981 President Reagan gave the striking air traffic controllers one day to report to work, when they failed to report he fired 11,000 of them and replaced them with National Guardsman. Governor Walker should fire every absent teacher on Monday morning and replace them with some of the thousands of fresh graduates across the country that would love to have the job. Those teachers make $20,000 more on average then the average Wisconsin; if you add in the benefits that they receive and don’t pay for the disparity goes up to $50,000 more per year. Who is really hurting here, the teachers or the kids that are at home all week with parents that can’t go to work because they can’t leave the child alone?

Governor’s across the country need to balance their state budgets, even if the federal government decided to put it off for another year. Today we are faced with budget deficits that present a real danger to the dollars place as the world reserve currency, the IMF, several EU nations and China have expressed interest in the past 60 days in using another currency as the world reserve currency; if that happens life as we know it in America while cease to exist.

We can no longer afford to have tax payers pay for public sector employees pension and salaries. We can no longer afford to pay hundreds of billions of dollars per year for welfare and social security. Tax payers certainly can not afford to for every Americans health care. People have to take cuts and pay more for benefits or we are all going to suffer through hyperinflation.

It’s no secret that the private sector creates wealth, things of value, small businesses and jobs. The public sector creates nothing of value for our economy. Why should private sector tax payers be forced to pay for the pensions and salaries of public sector employees that don’t create wealth for our economy? It’s just common sense. The public sector doesn’t pay nearly as much for benefits and they make much more then those that are paying for them to live and retire worry free lives. for the past two decades unions have been losing ground in business and gaining membership among federal employees. Why do federal employees need the AFL-CIO? I believe it should be illegal for federal emloyees to unionize; federal employees work for us, it’s not the other way around.

Unions are being exposed for the archaic, anti-free market organizations that they have degenerated into. The mid-term election of this past November not only lead to a histroic republican pick up in congress but it also wiped out the ‘farm team’ of state democrat law makers for a decade. American’s a tired of unions, social spending programs, government waste and the assualt on productive members of society. It’s time to take the kid gloves off and get serious about cutting the federal budget.

When more than 40,000 showed up for free produce at a US farm, did that indicate how many Americans go hungry?

An estimated 40,000 people came to a Weld County farm Saturday to collect free potatoes, carrots and leeks.

Cars snaked around cornfields and parallel parked along Colorado 66 and 119 early in the morning to get free food from the Miller family, who farm 600 acres outside of Platteville, about 37 miles north of Denver.

As this prolonged Indian summer continued, the Millers had decided to give away produce because so much was left over at the end of their annual fall festival. Any day now, a few deep freezes would kill it off.

They expected between 5,000 and 10,000 people spread out over a couple of days. Instead, they found themselves on Saturday morning inundated with cars and people with sacks and wagons and barrels ready to harvest whatever was available.

The Millers canceled the second day of the giveaway originally planned for today because, as Chris Miller put it, “the pickins’ are very slim now.”

At one point, 30 acres of family farmland had become a parking lot. Their crowd estimate of 40,000 plus was based on the number of cars. Sheriff’s officials said they “wouldn’t be surprised” if that count was accurate.

Traffic was backed up almost to Interstate 25, and police ticketed people who had illegally abandoned their cars in the frenzy.

“Overwhelmed is putting it mildly,” Miller said. “People obviously need food.”

Evidently, Platteville isn’t the only place where this is the case. Last week in Denver, thieves broke into freezers owned by the Park Hill Grandparents Organization and stole Thanksgiving trimmings — including more than a dozen frozen turkeys — set to be donated.

And in Lakewood on Saturday, people lined up in the dark at 6 a.m. to collect Thanksgiving boxes, donated by the Jeffco Action Center. By the end of the day, 5,141 people had gotten food — the biggest demand in 40 years.

At the Miller Farm, it never got truly unruly.

They had friends and family members help direct cars. Sheriff’s deputies cruised up and down highways trying to move traffic along, after fielding complaints from neighbors.

The family makes most of its money in the summer and fall, visiting 42 farmers markets a week, and hosting a fall festival where relatives charge an entry fee and then teach people about where their food comes from.

Normally, any unpicked produce goes back to the land. But after hearing reports of food being stolen from some nearby churches, the Millers decided to let people take what they wanted for free.

Sandra Justice, a Greeley resident who works at a technology company, brought her mother and son to pick potatoes. The price was nice, she said, but Justice also enjoyed picking her own food in these downtrodden times.

“Everybody is so depressed about the economy,” she said, noting she hauled off about 10 bags of vegetables. “This was a pure party. Everybody having a great time getting something for free.”
