1. Start a pet bakery business with doggie treats, fresh-baked cookies & ‘scooby snacks’. Try some innovative dog recipes and brand them as your own.

2. Start a pet salon with affordable hair & skin treatments for neighborhood pets. This could include hair cuts & manicures, a mobile dog grooming service or detox solutions for dog skin problems.

3. Start a pet sitting business (doggie day care) for busy pet owners and others who want someone trusted to take care of their pets. There’s also the overnight pet care business if you’re looking for something different.

4. Start a pet rescue and/or first aid service to cater to the needs of trapped pets till animal rescue arrives. This could even be in an assistive role to animal rescue personnel, if you have the necessary experience.

5. Start a pet adoption business and recruit a few volunteers to help out on evenings or weekends. Create a simple database or website of homeless pets and help connect them with people looking to adopt a pet.

You could do any or all of the above in association with qualified people from the neighborhood — e.g., animal lovers, vets, members from PETA and similar organizations. It’s a good way to cater to your passion for pets while also running a wonderful and profitable business.

Hello i live in Shawnee of the Poconos of Pennsylvania. My mom and I are looking to start a business but dont know where to begin. First off, we live in an area where potential sometimes looks high but then in the winter time it is extremely disastrous. The snow sometimes gets to 5 feet or more and we’re afraid that could affect our future business. So we’re thinking about an at home business but we’re not sure which one would be a good idea. We will not only cater to Shawnee but hopefully to the surrounding poconos as well.
Also we both have experienced in almost anything but every one moves so slowely with the times we dont know how quickly they would move to utilize what we offer.
Ideas would help tremendously.

First, if they are rich, they CAN take care of themselves.
Second, Girls match your criteria are usually very defensive and cautious.
Last, if your business idea IS profitable, you should easily be able to find an investor to fund your project.

The ideas need to come from you. Ive been setting people up on internet for as long as its been called internet. I can tell you how to setup an impressive website for free. You can sell anything you want on commission thru the tons of affiliate programs available.

But such sites make it or fail based on the attention of the owner. Pick a subject, choose affiliate items, get a free website, make a webpage, get it on search engines, make money. Any subject. It can be an item, hobby, games, craft, sport, pet, country, any subject at all. I dont care if its collecting unicorns or watching hummingbirds. It can be something you know a lot about or it can be something you WANT to know a lot about. Is there something that you bug your friends because when you get on the topic you talk about it way too much?

Lets say that its golf. You setup a web page then you search for affiliations on the topic of golf. You can offer golf equipment, training videos, books, funny tshirts with golf sayings on them, etc etc.

Then you need to get attention to your site. You can try out and write reviews on everything you offer on your site. You can link to news and how-to articles about golf. You can add a discussion forum about golf, you can do a newsletter that people sign up for which covers hot golf news items (and mentions new items in your shop). Do you begin to see why it needs to be something you love?

A couple of strong affiliate programs are Amazon.com and CafePress.com, or you can go to CommissionJunction to shop thru their affiliates. These work because the companies know that a “golf” site is better for selling “golf” items. Check those out and think “can I pitch this better than they are pitching it”.

Whatever subject you pick, you can make it THE site to go to for information on that subject. Those are the sites that work. The ones that the person is in love with. When you get a subject, come back and ask how you can build a site around it.

If you absolutely HAVE to have something more structured than that, check out CafePress. Or how about a skill? Graphics? cartoon doodling? writing? poetry? juggling? music? photography? expert game player? It doesnt have to be something you are good at. Just something you do a lot. Or it might be that your skill really is just a triple-A motivated entrepreneur salesman personality. Maybe someone elses skill. Do you have a teenager in the house with an exceptional skill at wise-cracking and rude comments on everything? Thats actually very marketable and can really hold down your stress levels by making you smile when he lets one off. Start a free shop in CafePress, design tshirts and bumperstickers. CP will make and sell them and you get a dollar or two for each sale.

The Web offers tremendous opportunities for those who know how to harness it. You hear of stories of people who earn thousands if not millions of dollars from doing business on Web. While there are many scams (same way in the traditional business world), there are various ways you can legitimately make money on the Web.

Here are the main business models you can adopt:

1. Sell products on the Web – Big boys like Amazon or Lillian Vernon online catalog or smaller businesses like BigKidsVideo.com or Candle4Less.com all sell products on the Web.

You can either sell: (a) through your own storefront through your own website or applications such as Yahoo Stores; or (b) sell through online auctions like eBay

2. Information Delivery. Others such as About.com or PowerHomeBiz.com create content and monetize their content in a number of ways:

a. Advertising – whether by joining banner ad networks such as Tribal Fusion, BurstMedia or Fastclick and display the banners on their site; or through contextual advertising such as Google Adsense or Intellxt

Always know your customers. If they are used to buying the normal goods you fail. Some do not care about the environment. They just sell. Let me give you an example. Chinese good were defective because the color id lead was more. But these toys would sell in the poor countries any way as the poor countries I am in, look fro the cheap commodities. This is called dumping. There is medicine I have marked made in EU, then it hoes on to say the registered office is in UK but the product is mad in one of the cheap labor countries like Hungary etc. There are all sorts of things in the market. You may have tough time but there is no harm in going to the poorest of the poor countries to bribe and sell. This is happening in Tanzania so I know.

The site would be an online marketplace like eBay, but for gift cards. Users could list their gift card for sale and buyers could purchase them. I would make money with ads and I would charge a small fee to the seller once their card sold on the site. Do you think this could be a profitable online business? If not, what are some good online businesses
that could make me a fortune online? Thanks.

nice idea but i dont think many people want recycled cards i dont think youd get enough traffic to attract that many ads and you wont make anything off the cards to make it worthwhile

I would buy the products wholesale and resell them on my site. I think the teen clothes is more profitable but what do you think? The question is: How much competition there is and how many you can sell/cost. It also depends on where you are located and where all you will ship, I hope you didn’t forget about that. It all depends on website name, location, and pricing of stuff. By the way it is very hard to start a business like that, just because you have to beat out all the people that already have a loyal customer base/prices.

However making it profitable is the real challenge for any online marketer.If you want to make money online, that’s great, but you need a system. Don’t re-invent the wheel – don’t make the mistake of wasting time and money in developing a product.Because you know nothing (I believe so) at the moment about internet marketing. So you must work with someone who can prove their system – be cautious and careful. You need to crawl first before you can walk or run – the best way to learn is to become an Affiliate Marketer. The main advantage with affiliate marketing is that -suppose the product you are promoting is not selling well due to some reason, you can drop that product & chose something else to sell.In short as an affiliate you are essentially a free-lance marketer – not bound by long-term contracts having a freedom to review / revise / remould your plans as per the demand in the market . You can make the handbags, jewelry or corsets. Sell them on Ebay, then to an Ebay store, then to your own website as your following grows.

Alternatively, you can try finding someone who makes the items, and you can work as a salesperson on commission. He or she does the making, you do the selling.

What are the steps to creating a profitable online business?

I’m looking to sell products and I’m not sure if I should go the drop-ship route. I need some advice from someone who has already been through the steps and has made it out with good results.

1) find your niche. is this a specialty product, or something that amazon.com and ebay.com already offer for low prices? If you’re willing to underbid them, definitely post your thing on ebay or your item on amazon at a lower than retail price.

2) If you decide to start your own website, you’re going to want to make sure you get listed on all the search engines, shopzilla.com, mysimons.com, nextag.com, and all those other websites that compare prices among many many retailers.

3) Customer support is your best friend. Treat your customers with the best respect you can offer. Provide yourself as more than a business person… as a friend. This is literally what drove both Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Starbucks to a billion dollar business.

I’s obviously not as simple as this, but I wish you luck :D
