Your questions about affiliate marketing blog

Ruth asks…

Is it possible to have an affiliate marketing blog that is free, and still earns you money?

Or do I need to pay for a more ‘professionalblog domain?

Also: Is it worth it to be an affiliate marketer? How much could I earn with a free blog, working part-time on it, and not paying anything to increase my blog search rankings? Is running an affiliate marketing blog a worthwhile thing (financially) to do when I can only do it part-time – or is it something that needs a full time worker?

Larry McCann answers:

If you are just starting out and don’t have a budget to get a domain name and hosting then I would suggest doing a combination of building websites on places like wordpress.com and also submitting relevant articles on places like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, and more. This should be a good start to help you learn more about internet marketing as it takes awhile to get used to all of the tips and tricks involved to make a large profit. I have personally known people who are making $100+ a day without having their own website which isn’t huge money but to many it is a great extra income.

Paul asks…

What is your favorite affiliate marketing blog?

I was wondering what everyone’s favorite affiliate marketing blog is?

Larry McCann answers:

My favorite blog is theaffiliatecodex

Ken asks…

How do I link to a webpage on my blog so that every time it is updated so is my blog for affiliate marketing?

Basically i am doing affiliate marketing on my blog and i would like to link to the page so it gives the title and description of that particular page. And when they change the affiliate item, or add a new article my blog automatically updates as well.

Larry McCann answers:

Hi Amber, well you can’t really control what the marketer does with their product on their website. If they change the product, you will have to change your affiliate link. I am not aware of any automatic scripts or blog plug ins that can automatically change your link.

Here are a couple of very cool ways to kind of hide your affiliate link so that it does not appear as an affiliate link. You will need to have your own domain and hosting setup. These will work if you are using blogger.com or a hub-page but you need at least one domain hosted in order to make the scripts work.

1. Create a new directory on your domain and name it something. Free or Cool Offer, etc.
Copy the code below into notepad (Not Microsoft Word!) and name the file index.php. Where you see location, place your affiliate link. When somebody clicks on your link, they will go to the file, index.php and it will automatically redirect the web user to the affiliate link. This works very well with Clickbank offers, etc

2. If you are using wordpress to blog with on a domain you own with hosting, download a plug in named “pretty links”. You can download it here:

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pretty-link/

You grab your affiliate link and it will automatically create a hidden link for people to click on.

These are the best ways I know of to put affiliate links into your blog and keep them hidden so people do not hijack them.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

William asks…

Can one use a blog to do affiliate marketing?

I would like to do affiliate marketing with some stock market software that I really like. Can a blog be used toward this end?
Also, anything “tutorial” about affiliate marketing would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Larry McCann answers:

Yes you can do this with a blog.
As Far as a tutorial is concerned Here is the extremely Short version:

1. Start a Blog
2. Add “Good” Content. It helps if you are an expert or if you have a passion for what you’re doing
3. Get traffic By marketing your blog like crazy (For example Myspace,Youtube, Article Marketing, etc.)
4.Monetize your blog by adding affiliate programs like clickbank or Adsense.
5. Make Money!
